Dried Fruit

While it’s important to eat only organic fruit, it’s even more vital to make sure any dried fruit you buy is organic. This is because any pesticide residues present in the fresh fruit will still be there in the dried fruit. Additionally, it’s easy to eat a whole handful of dried fruit that may have started off as four or five pieces fresh. Suddenly, what was supposed to be a healthy snack delivers a hefty dose of toxins to you or your child.

If you can’t find organic dried fruit in your area, look into buying a dehydrator. They usually run about $40, but you can always chip in for one with friends. You can make your own fruit roll-ups, preserve veggies and fruits for use out of season, and rest easy knowing exactly what’s in the food you’re eating.

Better yet, make your own out of recycled and repurposed materials.
This is a great project some folks in my permaculture class came up with, I was really impressed!
